Zelda Expelda and HubNuggets In Boots
60A Writer of a 70-Year Career
November 11, 2011; traditional date of Veterans Day in USA, Remembrance Day 2011 in Canada, and the mystic end of days 11-11-11.
This HubNuggets Round-Up Hub is dedicated to the memory of the recently departed curmudgeon Andy Rooney (1/19/1919 - 11/4/2011), war correspondent for Stars and Stripes and long-time essayist at TV's 60 Minutes .
He wrote for others to broadcast and he wrote for himself to share with us, until he was 92 years of age. He reluctantly retired then and if not for complications to minor surgery just three weeks past that parting, he'd still be writing. After all, Lilian Jackson Braun wrote into her ninety's -- This seems the essence of a writer, always something new to say. People don't always like it, but authors write it.
Mr. Rooney would surely have had something to write about 11.11.11, when by Sunday November 13, with the latest Doomsday Date passed, pockets of disappointed Waiters for the Apocalypse trudged back to their calculating formulae as the church bells rang.
He'd also have had something to say about the November 8 elections as well as the upcoming 2012 Presidential bid. Since we won't be hearing from him directly, the HubNuggets Team offers this Hub and hope it brings a smile.
A Fortuitous Date
It was 11.11.11 and King Jason of Never Say Never Land was asunder and at sea in thoughts of what he would like to do to Beeber (The Notorious B) for stealing the lists of HubNuggets Wannabes' Hubs for the weekly contest - and for performing rap music badly - on such an auspicious date as 11-11-11.
Such actions were crass and crude and King Jason intended to be curmudgeonly about it.
Where are the CATS? Shouted King Jason.
The cats, m'lord?, asked scribe Simone de Maurier des Maid Cafe.
Why certainly, those veterans of castle warfare - the CATS, Simone. The heroes of the realm! cut in Duchess Maddie, King Jason's 14th cousin.
RedElf
GreenEnelle
Action!
There was a clash and a clatter and
LadyjaneRoseRed sprung to the sash to see to the matter --
And with wondering eyes,
Opened the casement so that the Cats should appear.
'Tis I, Puss In Boots! I sensed trouble, declared RedElf.
And here am I, Puss In Taller Boots, chimed GreenEnelle.
Yes, yes, my apprentice, hissed RedElf. (A cat's sword appeared.)
Your better, you mean, growled GreenEnelle. (Another sword came out.)
[Whik! Whak! Snicker-Snak! sang the swords.]
Never mind all that, called Simone, You must find the lists of HubNuggets Wannabes!
Like lightning, m'lady, sang RedElf.
I'll have them yesterday, yodeled GreenEnelle.
Oh, I hope my sister GagaSnowWhite did not help The Beeber! hummed LadyJaneRoseRed.
We may have a long wait until The Beeber is brought to justice. I'll put the kettle on, bubbled Castle Chef KoffeeKlatchGals.
And I will gather good thoughts from the villagers, said Friar Ripplemaker.
Electronics Magic
Entering the castle like a gust of wind and a flash of fire, the local Newswoman and PI Zelda Expelda shrieked in like lobsters in hot water and rushed into the Royal Presence. Her Mission? - That TROUBLE might be Expelled!
She called out:
King Jason! Your Majesty! The GPS app on my iSlate worked! We found the runaway Beeber and the list of HubNuggets Wannabes in the Topic of Technology. An iWitness is keeping him at the corner of Never Never and Far Away until Puss in Boots can apprehend him.
RedElf: I'll have him in the single bat of a Newt's eye.
GreenEnelle: No I'll have him in the single flit of a Perry's Hummingbird wing - that's much shorter.
The Cats were away in a stampede of a four-boot rush!
Get me an aspirin! the chorus chorused.
In short order, a hissing clutter of cats, boots, lists and swords returned. How far is it to St.Ives? - Er - I mean, Zelda Expelda caught the page of HubNuggets nominations as it fluttered through the air like a lost absentee ballot.
Please read the nominated Hubs below and remember to help them by Voting for your favorite! (A little like Dancing with the Stars, but more winners.) The realm will give you its undying gratitude!

Life On the B-List
The Book and Nothing But The Book
The town crier entered with the day's mail. One large envelope looked suspicious. It was from The Notorious B.
LadyjaneRoseRed opened it and found that it contained a copy of a thick book by Beeber, called
Why I Am a Better Choice Than the 100 Nominees of the Red, the Blue, and the WWE for President in 2012, Even Though I Am Only 17.
Inside the front cover was the list of HubNuggets Wannabes' Hubs in the Topic of Books, Literature, and Writing.
King Jason croaked, The nerve of that person! I myself was going to run for President! Let me read that thing. -- Bah! This is a book of Mother Goose!
Please read our Nominees' Hubs below and Vote for one favorite soon, else the list flies off again. Thanks!

Traveling to Far Far Away
Chef Koffee Klatch brought in the tea cart and served cups of hot bubbly brew all round, with fairy cakes, apricot and blueberry scones, biscuits and marmalade. Friar Ripplemaker was especially ready for tea, since she'd been out gathering so many good thoughts for the HubNuggets Contest and congratulating the Nominees.
Chef KK also poured cream for the clashing though heroic Cats, who had entered a dance fight contest and were performing the Paso Doble with great elan.
Len Goodman: For me, this has much more fire than last week's performance. Sharper, and more passionate. The swords are a nice touch. Fine costumes as well - I can hardly make out that the couple is Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke.
Carrie Ann Inaba: Len, This is not Dancing With the Stars -- You got us onto the wrong plane!
Bruno Tonioli: 10!
Len Goodman: Well, we can still hang about for tea and see how this story plays out. Say, what's that on the tea cart?
Chef Koffee Klatch picked up a scroll from the tea cart, unfurled it, and found it to be the final list of HubNuggets Wannabes, in the Topic of Travel and Places.
Chef KK: That nice young delivery boy with my eggs and milk must have left this before he flew off to on his grocery route.
King Jason: His "day job"? Well, we have not caught The Notorious B, but as least we have our final list of Wannabes. People of the Realm! - Please read the Hubs below and Vote for your favorite. We are indebted to you for your service.

Fun, fun, fun , , , Bookmarked for a sneak peek later. The tribute is awesome, he is a fav, a great read to say the least. I've always loved deals like this. I just haven't figured out if it is a 4 for 3 or it is 20/20, and still counting.
Thanks again for tossing out the clock and present ing to us this journey in words. Awesome to see new growth in the garden at hubpages, eh?
I knew the Beeb was trouble the moment I laid eyes on him. At least we have our HubNuggets!
I loved Andy Rooney and his commentary at the ending of 60 minutes. I would have loved to see him talk about the latest failed Doomsday. As for all these references to cats, love them! (Puss in Taller Boots - hehehe)
Since I have both Canadian and American relatives, I say both Happy Remembrance Day and Happy Veterans Day.
Friar Ripplemaker says congratulations to all the nominees and happy Veterans Day! On my way to spread more cheer and good thoughts. :D
