Freelance Writing - How to make money doing something you love.
65Write what you love!
I began freelance writing by writing book reviews for payment in free books. These have been very good through exceptional works of non-fiction, mystery, science fiction, poetry, essay collections and classics. I have also reviewed business handbooks, Christian literature, global literature; graphic novels, academic text books and computer manuals. It has been fun and provided me with free books for entertainment and practicall uses, as well as good writing practice.

Through these first reviews, my writing has been noticed by publishers and others seeking writers. I have gathered a growing number of writing jobs, including research papers, medical articles, literature analyses and many more projects of different varieties.
It all started with a few well-written book reviews from a fresh perspective that used solid writing techniques with good grammar and the creative use of powerful phrasing.
So practice writing every day - a journal entry, a poem on an envelope, lists of things to think about. Just write. Additionally, read all kinds of writing. The more you read, the more you'll find you have to say.
SPECIALIZING
Some writers specialize in just one type of writing, but other writers continue to do a variety of works.
In the beginning, it is wise to write about what you enjoy. Perhaps you can simply decide between the two categories of fiction and nonfiction at this point. As you accept and complete increasing numbers of jobs, you will find what type of writing is the most successful for you and which are the most enjoyable. With this knowledge, you can begin to specialize in one or a few types of assignments.
Writers can also decide whether to write for themselves, by publishing books or booklets and related materials, or to work for clients, accepting a vareiety of assignmens. Some writers continue to do both thoughout their careers.

Writerlance.com is having problems - the owner or moderator charges people to accept work, but the work is really with himself under a different screen name. Then he often holds their work payment or does not pay them at all. He hries a person, gets their work free, then uses a different screen name in the "work available" list. Two of his other sites are AccessGossip.com and Homefixinfo.com.
Hi! Your hub is quite informative and straight to the point. I took note all the sites that you've listed here. Quite helpful, too. Thanks!
I would like to add some more freelance websites name, benefical to content develoeprs or article writers.
Scriptalance.com
Getafreelancer.com
Elance.com
Patty, I'm starting to trust you know what you're talking about. I started writing following Julia Cameron's 3 daily pages idea she presents in "The Artist's Way" it really helped my discipline myself and get into that writing mindset. Great hub, I look forward to reading your next one.
Thank you for the concise information. I've started visiting some of the site suggested by you and other commentors.
Interesting article, Patty! As a freelancer myself and one who is currently looking for paid work I will have a look at the links and see if I can find anything.
I would like to add that GetAFreelancer is better than Guru.com :) Just my two cents!
Wonderful article and thank you to everyone for al of the information.
Great article, thanks! I especially like the plentiful bulleted list of the many ways to keep writing. One freelancer resource I've found on the Internet is the suspicious (to me) sounding yet as far as I can tell legitimate site genuinejobs.com.
Thanks for the article, Patty! As a newbie to online writing, I appreciate the links to freelance sites. Good work!
