Little Missouri National Grasslands, North Dakota - RVs and Campers
Northwest North Dakota
One of the major sites in the North Dakota Oil Boom is New Town, North Dakota, south of Highway 2. RV campgrounds there and in the surrounding area include the list provided below. At least 40 new oil wells were scheduled for drilling in 2011, but the area can support several times that number.
Located on native reserve land to which non-natives are welcomed to work, the oil fields here await additional release of approved federal funding to help with 1) local oil drilling and refining and 2) refining of incoming Canadian oil via pipline. It is predicted that the yield of oil from North Dakota will reach 24,000,000,000 barrels and that Halliburton will hire 11,000 workers in late 2011 - early 2012.

The RV park is about 1/4 from the Four Bears Lodge on Lake Sakakawea approximately 5 miles south east of the center of New Town. The lodge has a number higher-paying jobs as well, given the icnreased tourist trade and gradual influx of new workers.

Geographically those RV parks look far apart. I wonder if the Oil Companies will just create their own camps for employees. Nothing says fun more than working 12 hour days of labor in the middle of nowhere in sub freezing temperatures and coming "home" to a nice cozy trailer. Yikes! I think these people deserve the higher wages they earn. The term "fast tracked" is kind of interesting in light of how slow things have been moving. I guess nothing spurs a presidential campaign like a double digit unemployment rate.
That sounds great and hopefully it will be a success for jobs for the locals. Thank your interesting hub.
I heard about this briefly in conversation. Glad to see your article even though it doesn't affect me directly.
Great Article. I just saw an article about the situation here for the guys and there families and the lack of housing solutions. This is a great hub for anyone considering an RV for housing option.

Nice Post. Crazy to see all the small sleepy towns that are now booming.
If anyone has any job leads that would be great. I am looking for a job where I can work 60+ hours a week Min. Something that is 2 weeks on one off or a similar schedule so I can go back home and see the wife and kids. any help would be great. I have applies at a ton of places on line but have not heard a response yet. maybe I have to be a little more patient.

Excellent post. My in-laws from Grand Forks were visiting over the holidays and we discussed RVs for those going to work in the Bakken. Remember, it will be VERY VERY cold. Fortunately, the people are wonderful, and the pioneers made it in worse conditions (and raised families like my husband's)! Vote up ... :-)
I am currently out of work, but I don't have an RV, so moving from Asheville, NC for a job in North Dakota is not a practical option for me. Nevetheless, this is good information for those who are pursuing that route.
That is really great...Thanks for the post
hey, a good friend and I just put in our resume's and should be hearing back shortly. two of us will be being a place. any of those campers still available?
thank you. we are thinking of bringing a camper behind my truck...
Going to start making some calls will be interesting to see if there might be any rv sites available. Would like to find a room till spring then bring the 5th wheel up if things work out. Hate the thought of setting up in below 0 temps. This could be a real addventure. Did a few winter contracts down in Antarctica so winters in ND are real close just not as long and a lot more people. Thanks for the site big help.
If anyone is looking for an RV, we have over 200 in stock, and our prices are fantastic. Unlike the other dealers in the area taking advantage of this boom and price gouging, we can offer you the same RVs for thousands less, and deliver them right to your jobsite. Please contact me at wholesalervsales@gmail.com for a list of pricing, availability, etc.
Thank you.
Thanks for providing this info!
Received a call from Halliburton yesterday!!! Time for a interview!!
I am looking to send my 19 year old son and his friend out to ND in an rv, does anyone know if Walmart allows you to park there sometimes?
Thanks Patty, I have searched and searched for info, it is mind boggling! I think we better get them to drive out there in the car first and try to find something in advance..or the train from here is only $62.00
We know about the all techniques of Atomic energy. Then North Dakota provide us job. They have many facilities for his workers.

Patty, in addition to being a Class One Researcher, you're also thoughtful. What RV owners would not appreciate you mapping out these routes? Good hub and voted USEFUL.
