Good Places to Live
New Brunswick is in Eastern Canada and included in the group of Maritime Provinces of the Confederation. The family of a former colleague in martial arts has long been involved in the fishing industry in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and found it a good living. Having lived on both Atlantic and Pacific Northwest Coasts of this nation, one couple ultimately abandoned other occupations and returned to the East and the fishing trade.
In April 2010, Fredricton NB was named the 4th Best Place to Live in Canada by MoneySense magazine, a particular honor in a huge country with many good features throughout.
National Historic Sites
Fredericton has selected sites and followed up to have them registered with the federal government as National historic Sits. One of the newest-registered is one sector of the St. John River, that sector between the west and east city limits presented to Fredericton as its own by Britain's Queen Victoria in 1848. This was before the act of the Confederation of Canada occurred. First Nations peoples had settled along the river for centuries and European sett lers inhabited its shores for transportation and natural resources - including fishing - thereafter.
National Historic Sites in Fredericton include constructed buildings because of their historic and architectural importance, along with natural resources like the St. John (the Baptist) River.

Business River
The St, John River brought settlers to what is now Fredericton and beyond, followed by business people. The latter began with French trappers and fur traders, a military fort, and two trading posts near the junction of the St. John and Naashwaak waterways. As additional Europeans settled in the area, shipbuilding, river boats, and a ferry system were established between the towns of St. John and Fredericton. After a roadway, road bridge, and rail line bridge were contructed and offered for use at no toll charge, the settlement grew faster and business was facilitated more easily. All this development occurred between the late 1760s to just after the American Civil War, a period of some 120 years.
French River
I recall from the fourth grade history that the Frenchman, Samuel de Champlain, being Catholic, named the river after a New Testament saint. Up to that point in 1604, probably the Feast Day of John, First Peoples called it the beautiful river, just as did the peoples of the future State of Ohio call their Ohio River beautiful river, 10,000+ years previously. Whether Eastern Canadian First Nation, Ohio Valley "Indian", or South Korean Han original native, all called themselves simply the people; and those around the now-Fredericton bound river became the people of the beautiful river. The people of Fredericton, as is common of Canadian cities, has remained dedicated to sustainability as of old and maintain their beautiful river.
With the incoming of French settlers, the very river took on a Christian presence that foreshadowed proselytization of some First Nations peoples living in the area.

Sustainability and Transportation
The City of Fredericton operates the Green Shop project, recognizing green businesses in the city and encouraging conservation of energy and resources. Active Transportation is another initiative in sustainability citywide:
Green spaces and outdoor activities are maintained and valuable in Fredericton. A city trail system includes approximately --- miles or 85 km of trails that accommodate walkers, joggers, baby strollers, skate boarders, electric motorized wheelchairs/mobility scooters, and bicyclists. Dog walking is permitted as well. During snowfall accumulation, hikers, snowshoers, and cross country skiers are welcomed to use the trails for these activities.
A total of 17 trails are available in 2010, located beside waterways, through green spaces, near quaint cottages, and along other scenic and urban sectors. A growing number of users put the trail system to work for commuting to work and school. One trail even connects the University of New Brunswick to St.Thomas University in Fredericton. Bike racks are added around town every year and the trail system offers a Visitors Center with restrooms, maps, brochures, and city event announcements.
Most non-emission vehicles are permitted. If you have a Segue type transport device or an electric golf cart, call the cities offices to determine their permissibility: 1-888-888-4768 or 0-808-101-1674 (from the UK).
FREE WIFI CITYWIDE
One of the progressive features of Fredericton that helps to place it in the Top 10 Cities list is its telecommunications infrastructure and the availability of free WIFI service just about anywhere in the city This is not only a convenient advantage for residents, tourists, and convention visitors, but also efficient and effective for business and government communications.
Pacific Architects and Engineers, Inc [PAE Group]
PAE Group is an American company out of Arlington, Virginia near the US Capital. It is a major job lister in the Fredericton area, in the suburb of Germany NB. This may be related to the proximity of the St. John River and its shipping lanes, airports, and other transport methods. The military city of Oromocto is also very near Fredericton, based around a Canadian military base,.
A closer look at the Fredericton job postings on Indeed Canada indicates the need for US citizens to join PAE and ship out to the country of Germany, for supervisor positions in logistics, much like those registered in job postings for the Fredericton area in Germany NB.
PAE is a division of Lockheed Martin in the US, which is involved in activities listed on their website as "Mission Readiness, Peacekeeping, Global Infrastructure Support, and Disaster Relief" at http://www.paegroup.com. Elements of these activities also include logistics, support for mission operations, and the application/integration of technologies. it's all very high-tech sounding.
