It Works! - How to Promote Your Website: Sunforged's 60 Day Challenge - My Log
83
Hubber Initiatives
I've mentioned participation in various HubPages features as a means to promoting your Hubs and gaining readership and other traffic in How to Drive Traffic to Your Hub with Participation. One of those features is the 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge that is ongoing for an ever-increasing community within the larger HubPages group. A new twist to this is Hubber sunforged's new challenge within a challenge: the 60 Day Challenge in which 30 days are spent researching and writing fresh, high demand content, with the following 30 days spent in group-aided promotion activities to help of the 60-dayers, which will bring more traffic to HubPages as well and new members. With more new members, we'll be having more content to choose for the HubNugget Wannabe Hubs each week as well. It will be a lot of fun!
Ship's Log, Sci-Pi, Supplemental
As a member (Sci-Pi and her Mirror Gallaxy alter "Pi-Sci") of the seafaring and space-going HubNuggets Weekly Contest and promotion that includes new Hubbers of 3 months' tenure or less, I cannot get "Ship's Log" out of my Klingon-learning mind. But that seems to work, because now I can think about the 60 Day Challenge Log and try to keep up! It sounds like fun and I hope I can keep up with all the rest of you.
Truly, I had a bit of a time posting my 30 Hubs in 30 Days links in the correspnding HubPages Forum. I actually forgot to finish that part of the task a couple of months running, so this log feature should help me with that aspect.
At any rate, this will be an interesting experience that I urge all Hubbers to attempt. If you cannot join us for this challenge, then please have a good time reading our material and laughing at me as I may fall behind. All in good fun!
Often, just inserting oneself into a matrix that will organize one's activities in a certain effort creates wonders in increased resluts. it will happen with the 60 Day Challenge. Much good success to us all! And thanks very much to sunforged.
"Employment and Jobs"
WEEK 1
April 1, 2010
GOALS: I've been thinking about my HubPages contributions and I would like to improve in the following aspects:
SELF
- Gain increased traffic from current and additional sources. Five or 6 sources cover most of my incoming traffic and I'd like to at least double that number.
- Increase Google AdSense income by 30%,
- Double Amazon and Ebay earnings. This revenue is low and needs to go up or out.
- Increase the quality, usefulness, and broadcasting of my Hubs to the world,
- Increase my understanding and effective use of social networking and bookmarking sites. Look at RedGage and join.
COMMUNITY
- Provide additional and more effective promotion ideas for HubNuggets Wannabes and others that contact me for suggestions in this regard.
- Recruit additional Hubbers to the HubPages community.
- Support other 60 Day Challenge Hubbers in their efforts and link with their Hubs and social networking sites whenever possible.
April 2 & 3
Examined RedGage and joined. Gathered initial link-ups with several friends. Posted two articles.
April 3
Topics: I like to write about Employment and Training (jobs related), answer Hub Requests, and participate in Princessa and Company's Weekly HubMob. I'll stay with job related Hubs and in Requests and HubMob I'll look for Health & Medicine, Food, History, Social Issues, and Education.
April 5
The HubMob topic seriously motivated me this week and I had a good time creating the Hubs. I experienced some awesome insights along the way about people I have respected and liked, but now admire for their courage as well. Several connections within my own history emerged from bits and pieces of the past that had been fluttering at one another.
I have found RedGage easy to navigate and use, attractive to the eye as well. Many Hubbers are already on RedGage, so it's rather easy to build a community and obtain followers. Other articles and posts on the site are entertaining and interesting as well. If you'd like to join us, you can click the link above.
April 6-8
RedGage works MUCH better and faster in FireFox than in IE.

April 8 - 10
Thus far, my 60 Day Challenge Hubs are attracting traffic from 6 or 7 sources, except the last two Hubs, published most recently. "Celebrating Easter Monday" has 12 top sources. Incoming traffic is increasing from Twitter this week.
April 11 - 12
With some suggestions from sunforged and other 60dc Hubbers, I figured out Twitterfeed for Facebook and Twitter, and picked up additional two-way contacts on both those sites and HubPages. Also picked up and began following a few additional people on RedGage.
April 13
A couple of my Week 1 ChallengeHubs are up to 8 traffic sources. Princessa's HumBob this week is all about Cinco de Mayo and I can add Hubs about Mexican and Mexican Native American history and cuisine. A good and fun topic this week!
April 14-15
The Scottish HubMob was too interesting - I can't stop writing about Scotland! I'll also publish my turn at the Weekly HubNuggets Hub the morning of April 16 and I hope readers like it. Everyone can vote for their favorite newer Hubbers' articles and make more friends there. We've been writing a continuing Space Opera saga week by week and it's taking on a life of its own.

April 19
I figured out last week how to apply Shark Feed to a blog, and the result is that the 60 Day Challenge Hot Hubs are appearing as content on my blog. I have to go in and add tags and headings, sometimes additional text, but it's good content. It is increasing my overall Internet traffic significantly.
A also joined William Shatner's MyOuterSpace.com for writer's networking on Planet CREATIA under the governorship of -- Alan Dean Foster!
April 20
Here's another useful social networking site that also uses AdSense, Amazon, and a linked button to add to your Facebook profile as an app: YouSayToo.com
I joined SheToldMe, because several other Hubbers are on this site and find it useful as well.
April 21 - 22
Hub traffic picked up significantly begining April 20-21, a little higher yet on April 22.
Interestingly, a person on another site saw about the jelly Hub (below), did not read it or the Hub, and took off in a political tangent about corn syrup. it should bring some new readers over here.
April 23
In the Hub up for Friday, I learned more about a controversial vaccine for lyme diease that can cause the disease and arthritis as side effects.
I'm excited to see today's HubNuggets Hub when it's listed in The Hubber's Hangout forum today and see how many of our 60 Day Challengers may be on the list. I hope some of our newer Hubbers joined us.
My views per day have increased +1,500 daily daily average since April 18 and are inching up daily.
WEEK 3 HUBS

"EDUCATION"
Week 5: May 1 - May 7, 2010
Among my Hubs, 6 made a score of 100 all at the same time, with several also at 99. The larges numbers of "100s" I had at once previously was 3 and one time, 4, during a HubMob.
Views per day remain at the higher level accomplished with the help of participating in 60dc. Increased traffic seems stable.
GOING FORWARD
May 8 - June 14
- All goals have been met, except for Amazon and eBay.
- The successful results continue to increase and rise above my projections.
June 14 - June 22
This has been a fantastic week at HubPages!
For a brief time on June 21, seven (7) of my Hubs reached a score of 100 at once and the daily earnings was markedly high compared to usual, which is increasing right along.
I hope that all of your work online is paying off for you!
June 23 - July 7, 2010
The 60DC Challenge initial work and follow-up promotion continues to help boost page views, clicks, etc, for participants. The further participation in HubTrail boosted this even more. My HP work experinced a dip in views before July 3, then a marked increase beginning the evening of July 3 that has continued. on 7th of July, 10 of my Hubs reached the 100 score simultaneously - This is incredible to me!
I hope participation in HubPages challenges is producing similar results for all of our participants.
Best of success to you!

Thank you for your invitation but I don't think I am up to it.
This is awesome!!! I like the milestones and goals you have presented, how great to not only share the challenge but the journey along the way. A great assist for others, wow, I really like this!
I think this is a great idea that sunforged has here. I really wanted to participate in this, but I just have too many new projects to work on right now. I hope he repeats this again.
Ahhh finally got here Patty. So many are joining now and as the 60DC is gathering momentum, I'm losing track of where I've been! Well I for one am most happy to see you participate and boy have you been productive already! As for redgage, I'm on there somewhere if you ever care to look me up :)
Oh Patty, I am so glad you joined! This is going to be an adventure as we boldly go where no hubbers have gone before! I am so eager to learn, I finally joined face book, and redgage but don't have a clue what to do. I am so glad that Sunforged came up with this, I was flying blind! Even with your kind support over these past months I still have an awful lot to learn!
Patty great goals and log - I don't think I am quite up to the 60 day challenge yet but will keep posting and certainly reading and rating all the hubs!
Great suggestions, I'll keep watch, and later maybe when I can I will join in.
Hi Patty,
I really enjoyed your hub, it is great to have found you on RedGage. I might check out the 60 day challenge, although I'm more of Hubmobster myself. Excellent hub.
can i join in the challenge? I'm new in hubpages and want to give it a try..
Patty - you are definitely one I need to follow around this 60daychallenge. Just reading your log I can see I can learn alot from you! I am almost as excited as I am scared but the race is on and I am in it to the end!
This is really well laid out, its going to be a pleasure to follow.
The final 60dc team hub and participants is set.
.. correspnding
I am happy to be part of the 60 day challenge team with you. Your experience here is helpful.
Great to have you aboard, Patty - Really impressed with the community angle to your log. I don't know how you find enough hours in the day to keep up with it all!
Best wishes :)
Really like the layout of this hub - the log is very clear.
We are not joining the challenge, but we want to increase traffic to our own website so our closely following the hubs involved in the challenge.
Great Start as always Patty Inglish :)
United we stand, divided we fall... I am popping by to share the community love with you. Great to have you with me within a team of great hubbers :)
You are really organized. I see I have much to learn in the hubbing community. I am glad to be a part of the team, where I can learn from the best.
Namaste
Read and bookmarked! Looks like the challenge will be a great source of info for everyone. I shall be following this with great interest, Sci-PI ;)
I'm so glad you joined! I see I'm way behind, though. I have 5 going right now, so hopefully I'll catch up by the weekend.
Good luck with the challenge!
Hi Patty - greetings from a fellow challenger :) I'm just popping round to everyone to say "GOOD LUCK" and here's to achieving your aims!
A very well structured blog and an interesting revelation too. Thanks.
I wish you more blessings as you promote, write and help the community of hubbers, More power Mam, Maita
This log is enjoyable to follow along with, I hope to see lots of future success for you.
We now have our own forum - http://60dc.hubsacademy.com/
but most all info will still be completely available via our team hubs and the hubforums - but easy private communication and self-promotional posting is now an option
You are doing well in your 60 day challenge....
Great to read this. 60 day challenge seems like it would take a great deal of discipline.
That's really good info, thanks for sharing. Very good piece of writing.
Patty, I need all the help I can get. Thank you so much. Will bookmark and rate up
A way to go! Patty, hays I have some writing projects as it sidetracks me for a while, hehehe I started late I hope I'll be given some benefits of the doubts of still posting hubs in the days ahead. Great job my great teammate in the 60dc challenge...
Patty although I don't have the time to participate in the Challenges I am watching your progress and learning from your updates. So many thanks for doing this Hub (bookmarked)
RedGage is a good platform but at times I do have trouble with the uploader and my notification email links have stopped working for some reason?
your log really is terrific! so smooth and organized , , makes me feel like mine is one big collage mess.. . !
This is an excellent Hub and a reason to participate in the challenges as a group. I like how you break down your goals for Hubpages which is what I have personally started doing. I've got an okay start this month for writing 30 Hubs in May. I'm seeing my Adsense income climb steadily and, like you, I have a favorite topic or two to write about. These are mostly informational Hubs so do better with Adsense than Amazon.
It's really fascinating reading some of the 60DC hubs and trying to pick up on some of the tips and techniques. Well done, and so well organized as usual, Miss PI.
bookmarked and rated up, now it is time for me to push myself, and make my hubs better, thanks.
should have gone in on the 30 day hub with my marriage counseling stuff oh well maybe next time.
since it it worked for you, will work for all. All points are valid
Way ta go! Glad to see your progress;) BTW how do I find Shark Feed. I Googled it but couldn't find it. Is it still up?
