The Holocaust Continues - Former and Current Abuses of Human Rights
73
On May Day 2011, shortly before 11:00pm EDT, NBC television network broadcast news that Osama bin Laden was dead. I had been listening to the testimonies of Holocaust Survivors and switched to NBC during a commercial.
Regardless of whether bin Laden, Adolf Hitler, Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein and sons, and a number of butchers of humanity are alive or dead, the Holocaust continues. Rallies and holiday remembrances proclaim NEVER AGAIN - and the next day it happens again.
For the Survivors of the Jewish Holocaust, it will never be over. Those I know have told me this in interviews and presentation to my adult education classes. Nightmares and waking terrors follow many of them, hard-wired into their memories as children in concentration camps. The Holocaust continues inside them and new genocides in the world have reminded them. The histories of holocausts against ethnicities occurring before these survivors were born adds to the nightmares.
Trail of Tears
Ad Infinitum
I see only one Holocaust of butchery against ethnicities and minority groups that have been, and will be, harmed. The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center on Long Island is the first organization that I have heard echo this belief.
Some black friends of mine have been alarmed that I don't think that the Slavery rampant in the US until the end of the Civil War and the horrid discrimination against and butchery of blacks afterward is not worse than the Jewish Holocaust. They discount the fact that Native Americans were the first unwilling victims of slavery and fought successful against it. Some portion of each offended group feels that their holocaust must be worse than all the others --
No holocaust is worse than that in Africa in Sudan where Christians that admit their belief in Christ have their arms cut off at the shoulders by the government.
No holocaust is worse than that of Chinese Christians that, having admitted their belief in Christ, have been enslaved to assemble tiny twinkling lights on wires - without tools for 12 - 14 hours daily without a break or food - for our Christmas trees in America and wherever else will buy them.
No holocaust is worse than that in which females in some Muslim groups may be legally stabbed to death by male relatives, because too much of one of their wrists was showing in public. A judge in Central Ohio ruled that such punishment was cultural and allowable here.
No holocaust is worse than that suffered by the people of rural North Korea, who are permitted only one meal daily and required to prepare it from ground up empty corn cobs into a gruel and to add to it ground up plant roots that are poisonous and cause blindness before death. All the while they must keep a photo of Dear Dear Leader in their homes, dusted and straight or be shot in cold blood. Reference: The Ginseng Hunter. Young people join the army as the only way of having any food to eat.
No holocaust is worse that the bullying and a menu of abuses levied against all genders, beliefs, faiths, heights, weights, and any other demographic you can name. Domestic violence kills men, women, and children every day in America. Intelligent kids are bullied, sometimes unto homicidal death or suicide. Kids that don;lt want to drink, smoke, curse or have sex are beaten by stronger kids and adults. Child Sex Trafficking is just as bad as the Slavery holocaust or the Jewish Holocaust - especially when the child trafficked is six months old. Thankfully, this problem is being addressed in Toledo OH, a gateway city.
There is only one holocaust and it is fully at the lowest level of hell. As long as any holocaust is allowed to continue, they all continue and the opportunity for new holocausts incubates.

Patty, all I can say is awesome. I can feel your passion and I share your horrific thoughts about the violence of our humanity against each other. I always say...how can a person do that to another, and then I read something even more heinous right after. I liked it very much. voted up
Well spoken.
Thanks.
Dearest Patty,
This beautiful Hub of remembrance brings me to tears . . . Upon hearing the news of bin Laden's slaying, I too, felt the all-too-familiar stab of "when will the slaughter end . . . ?"
I did not agree with bin Laden's views . . . But I do support his right to have them . . . I did not agree with his actions . . . nor the murderous actions of the U.S. . . .
When did the U.S. become a country where we openly talk about, plan, carry out and applaud bloody executions of people with opposing beliefs . . . ?
When did U.S. fear become "justified policy" for ending someone's life . . . ? Do the people in Washington D.C. really believe this is a victory . . . ? This is no more than kerosene on the fire . . .
"Justice for murder" is not accomplished by more murder . . . There were so many more ways we, as civilized, compassionate human beings could have dealt with this tragedy . . . While my friends celebrate, I am sickened . . .
Thank you dear Patty for handling difficult subjects with grace, creative use of words and a fresh perspective . . .
Blessings always, Earth Angel . . . .
Beautiful Patty, People forget about the Trail of Tears. I feel ashamed our ancestors put the Native Americans through such atrocities in the name of God and Christianity. How hippocratic and the same with slavery. I never understood it and never will! I felt your passion and you did a good job of reminding us, we must never forget!
You make some very important points here. I agree - we are all one human family. When people in any group are being harmed it should always be seen as 'us'...
A most brilliant thought right through your hub and every word is true. Man just can't live in peace with each other. Nor will he learn from history.
Blessings again Patty and all who have commented above . . . Blessings to Hello, hello also . . .
Hello, Hello commented, "Man just can't live in peace with each other. Nor will he (man) learn from history" and so far this has been true . . .
As women, however, who give birth to the children who fight in the wars . . . and whose children are pitted against children borne of other mothers in other countries . . . WE can learn from history . . . And we MUST . . .
Now is the time . . . And we are the ones . . . To stand up and say enough . . . We are NOT giving one more of our children, not one more of our thoughts, our dreams or our actions to murder or assassination no matter in whose name or interest it is "labeled . . ." (Do you notice there is a double "ass" in the above . . .?)
We are better than that . . . "To whom much has been given, much is expected . . . "
I rallied HARD for Obama to win the Presidency . . . . And I still think he was the best choice for the U.S. at the time . . . Maybe still . . . I still think he has the best intentions . . . But Washington, D.C. is a lobbyists machine I thought he could resist . . . I vomit at the very idea that he signed an order to murder another soul . . .
Mothers, women and those souls (men included) with a higher calling, we are faced with an immediate decision to "step-up" or to "zone-out . . ."
Believe me, most days I want to zone-out from this continued holocaust . . . What craziness is this . . ?? What barbaric animals have we (collectively) become . . . ???
Those us all born into privilege, which is most in the U.S., really do not have that option . . . Ours is a calling to responsibility, sanity and a higher vision . . . To paraphrase the Dalai Lama from September of last year . . . "The world will be saved by the western woman . . . "
Patty Inglish is one of those women . . .
Blessings always, Earth Angel . . .
It is written that the time will come when we will 'study war no more,' hope that day is immediate. v/r
