The Best High Demand and High Paid Jobs from 2011 to 2020
95American Job Growth 2010 - 2011
Employment Projections in USA and UK
Setting aside some higher-paid corporate CEOs and self-employed entrepreneurs, Physicians, Specialists, and Surgeons, all representing the Healthcare Industry will likely continue to receive the highest salaries in America through 2020. However, this is probably true only if the new national healthcare reform laws of 2010 - 2011 do not change pay scales and Usual and Customary insurance reimbursement structures in a way that reduces income for these professionals.
A portion of medical practitioners mentioned above left the practice of general medicine and specialities in the 2000s, because of increasing malpractice insurance costs. Other physicians have begun to reject new patients that 1) are self-pay [have no insurance] or 2) receive Medicare coverage. If insurance reimbursements decline in the amounts usually awarded, then we may see additional physicians leaving the practice of medicine and medical specialities.
National employment projections for America were completed for the 2008 - 2018 decade and published in the fall of 2010 to replace projections for the 2006 - 2016 decade. While national projections for 2010 - 2020 will be released likely in 2012, some states and metro areas have already established such projections. Many of these include a high proportion of healthcare professionals.
The United Kingdom already has a set of employment projections for 2020 in London. the document is called Destinations 2020 and predicts that the UK will follow London in its economic and job growth to 2020.
We will have a look at salaries of the highest paying jobs in both USA and UK among these projections mentioned above.

Another excellent hub, you are the best supporter of people out of work. Wonderful writing and pictures to explain, great outline and an awesome read. rate up love & peace darski
An excellent hub full with useful information.
Great Hub. I also think alternative energy will be one of the hottest job sectors in this and the next decade.
Very useful and well written, great job!!
wow! thats a bit of information..keep it up
This is such an interesting hub. So well written!
Very well researched and written. I wish I had time to further my studies. How I wish to have knowledge on Network systems and Software engineering. Thanks for sharing this. Great hub!
nice
this one is very informative, will let my children who are about to enter the univ read this, will give them the heads up. thanks!
With the technology that we have now, it's no wonder why network systems and software engineering is on the top. Nice hub by the way.
Very useful, i'm interested to see how it plays out. Thanks!
Nice Hub - thanks for the info.
In my talks with healthcare providers, I sense and hear much uncertainty. In my area there have been many layoffs. From what I see, the bloom may be off this rose.
In the commonwealth of Massachusetts, NEW ENGLAND, U.S. of North America - you can make more money taking tolls on the Massachusetts Turnpike than you can as a physician with ties to Blue Cross etc. So we are noting an uptick in applications for money collecting ... I have not checked with Boston University Medical Center to see if there is an equal but opposite downturn in medical school apps.
nice hub i really like information that you have provided
SEO Packages
You rock it man. You have given clear picture of tomorrow. Impressive!
Since the recession happened, many people lost their jobs but now you can easily see the difference. Thanks for your information.
Thanks for all the great information in this excellent hub. Well put together and full of interesting info.
thanks
Very informative. Lucky for me I recently graduated with a BS in Network Systems/Security
Lots of information here. The timing is good as well. A lot of high schoolers are mapping out there college careers.
Then we should guide our children for these high paing jobs. Thanks for the informative hub.
Interesting about the health care industry given that so many doctors are so eager to get out of it!
Great!
Great Hub. Thank you for all of this helpful information. Well written Hub as always. I was looking at the jobs in the UK. I never knew managers made that much money.
Let's all be nurses, guys!
You're right, demand for them is already on the rise. Great hub, btw.
Great hub, very informative! I agree, there is a high demand for physicans/physican assistants and nurse practitioners, and I predict that we will start seeing more and more people pursuing professional careers in healthcare.
Due to the state of the economy, I recently decided to put a hold on pursuing my Masters in Counseling and pursue a B.S.N. to become an RN. Upon graduation, I intend to gain experience in the field and pursue a graduate program that will allow me to become a Nurse Anethetist (CRNA). The average salary in the U.S. in this field is about $130,000 and all you have to have is a Masters degree. Currently, I am only a pre-nursing major, but I have done my research, and I am looking forward to the challenge! :)
Again, thank you for the information and I look forward to reading more of your work!
Air traffic control is another one. They are highly paid.
its good to read these information in this hub as one can be prepared before-hand.however it is said that developing countries like india are going to replace western countries as global medical hub, since its more economical and equally efficient.so lets leave everything in hands of time
Good to know where the big $$ are at, thanks.
Very interesting. Maybe it's time for me to consider a career change!
Nice article - very detailed also. Thanks
Very interesting article. With an excellent research behind. It's great to find information so well organized and informative here on hubpages. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Nice one.
Thanks! It's always nice to see that it's not all bad news in terms of the job market.
wow..great hub! thanks for the info..its very useful to us, i think...more opportunity job to come!
Sometimes I regret becoming a writer. Alas, it's what I'm good at.
I agree with you especially with the percentage of nurses that's why a lot of Filipino nurses here in Philippines are going abroad.
Hi,
Good hub, I hope we can all benefit from these high-paid job projections. I still see the IT industry some what stagnant in terms of salary
Great job on this hub.
Great hub! Hopefully we can benefit from learning this new imformation!
Some very good information about London, thanks for the write up its great to understand what is and isn’t good, especially when talking people leaving education and starting off in employment.
I'm sure glad to be in the medical field.
What's exactly a 'Professional job' ?
I have come across few hubs that are as informative as this one. This is great data - I think that the estimates for health care jobs could even eclipse what is expected. With the Baby Boomers reaching "that age" and other cultural factors, the demand for healthcare jobs is really tremendous.
Very interesting. Thank you for posting this.
Really great hub! you put quality detailed information and this hub was perfect in all the areas that make writing and giving information worthwhile! voted up..
Very good information. Great details.
i think that own online business is still the best option. of course, unless you are a really highly paid specialist
I wish someone had compiled a list like this when I was in college. It took me years to find a decent growth industry...and even longer to actually break into it.
Useful Hub for job seekers.Thanks!
Good job
Another awesome write up. Keep up the great work!!
rorshak sobchak
I guess medicine is the way to go :)
Makes me think of which career should I go into. The film and gaming industry weren't mentioned in this. I read somewhere that the gaming industry would become more successful than the film industry into 2015. Not sure about 2020. Awesome hub! Lots of information!
During my first ten years in my career I worked in the health care industry as a cytotechnologist and crossed over into the biotech/pharmaceutical field and have been here for the past ten years. As an HPLC/ LC-MS scientist. NOT the world's most glamorous profession but twenty years in clinical/biotech laboratory medicine has served me well. Couldn't be happier with my choice.
This is great opportunity ,Thanks for the post
Great hub! Very interesting.
Very impressive hub, in depth....brilliant
Great hub, thanks!!
health and tech. That;s good to see as that is what I am in.
Very informative. It seems that people that have specific skill sets bring in higher pay checks then people that are in more generic jobs. Its good to have the ability to perform tasks that others are not capable to do.
Do you know what type of companies employ Management Analysts - like D&T? Thank you.
Interesting and well researched, good job!
Wow. Thats very well written. Thank You.
Great job.looks like U have really bend Ur back 2 gather such informations.A job in UNDP or Unicef can also be very High salary Ones or Microsoft,Apple nd Bose
Valuable info here. Nice work.
Great article, success requires a lot of planning and forethought.
It seems that people that have specific skill sets bring in higher pay checks then people that are in more generic jobs.
Nice article But Y u r missing india !!! We are growing !!!!
Great Hub... it would be interesting to watch tourism industry too.
interesting, I was just reading in Time magazine that one of the new jobs to watch is being a Farmer. Trade in your suit and tie for some boots and a trailer haha. But seriously if you think about it it makes sense, the food supply is decreasing and the population is increasing. Why wouldn't being a farmer be a great position to be in 2020.
I notice that Internet marketing is not listed, lol. Great hub.
very informative.
Good hub, very informative.
Great hub lots of useful information.
Awesome work! Thank you!
Wow, very interesting...it's a shame that skilled work seems to be on the decline
I fully agree with your research. IT jobs will be highest payed in USA. Thanks for sharing.http://www.micocrane.com
Interesting to see skilled trades marked as one that will decline in the UK as they have been booming recently
Am relieved to know that nurses are still one of the most sought jobs in the US and UK as my daughter is taking up nursing and hopefully to graduate next year. It's a bit alarming, that recent news in our country declares that there is a lot of unemployed nurses. Hope the demand locally and offshore will increase in the coming years.
so well written and informative. so where does engineering fall? in the declining category or the one in demand? and which desciplines? thanks.
thanks, good information, it helps. cheers
great hub
Hmmm. Maybe it's time to go back in education and re-educate myself :)
too bad...my job is not in the list.
I'm keeping up on my computer skills for sure!
Great hub here. I love the arrangement that you have used in it.
what a great hub. I agree that more companies than ever are hiring IT people
interesting and well written hub! Thanks for the much needed info!
Interesting information. I still can't see myself going into one of those career paths though.
The tech community is definitely growing. It's a lot of work though! My hubby is a systems guy and he's rarely away from his computer. He loves his job though. :)
Get Ready! Another recession is approaching! 2008 was nothing compared to this!
I'm teaching a college & careers class to high school students right now and one thing to be considered is employability after college. Some professions are growing, as you have shown here, others are very difficult to find a job in.
Wonderful effort for unemployed persons. Great job. I vote it up.
Very useful hub! That said, I've had overall negative impressions of PhDs being able to get jobs after graduating. And really, unless you're totally passionate about your area, the other jobs on the list are much better financial investments.
It's a shame I'm not the slightest bit interested in having a job in Healthcare. Looks like that is the place to be.
Informative! Also glad to see software eg on no 2 as i m on that profession.:-)
nice
awesome post i like it so i vote up and useful too.....!!!!1
Very interesting. Thanks! I'm surprised to see and expected decline in skilled trades in the U.K. though. I was always under the impression that there wasn't enough people in that area of work.
That's great hub! I love to read from the beginning until end!
They lied to me I got my degree in Accounting and that's supposedly in demand because people forgot how to count but no one hires you without experience... Insurance is where its at!...
Very nice Hub! I will more than likely be moving to America sometime in the near future (after I complete my education) and it seems that the field I plan to work in will be more than happy to supply me a job! Thanks for the information! Voted up and useful.
wow! this is a great hub!
Patty your detail and layout of this Hub is loaded with good info and easy to read. I seldom comment like I should but you are number 1.
Informational hub! updated info about jobs, well this is really a great help for the fresh grad and also who will take up a college degree, when they see this posts you can gave them an option what to take as career in college.
Amazing hub, really unique set of information illustrated.
Very good information.Thanks
great!
but, the 3 jobs that you mention are on the decline is a total shock to me
1.Administrative jobs and Secretaries
2.Skilled Trades
3.Plant and Machine Operations jobs
there are certain jobs that i thought would always be in demand: doctors, lawyers, accountants and administrative workers.
i call administrative workers invaluable door keepers. they are the ones who organize our schedules and junks for us. how will we manage without them?
Good information Patty. One little known niche job market is in oil and gas drilling. Several new discoveries, some of which I write about in my Hubs, are creating thousands of high tech oilfield jobs.
well good
very usefull hubs, like it
Very interesting analysis, it will be even more interesting to see how the general state of the American Economy fares. Especially, over the next two years.
You really do your research. Great article!
Great hub. Yeah, America needs more engineers coming out of schools to meet the demand for those jobs in the future. Fewer liberal arts majors and more science-oriented graduates would be a big help going forward.
good information, maybe I need to study more and more.lol~~
Great hub, interesting information, although it's to late for me to change fields.
Thanks for your hub. Great information and it is very well written
Thank you for this information.. This one is really good. Keep up your good work!
Short but Sweet! Nice.
VERY NICE HUB... GREAT WORK..
Thanks for this. I'm from the UK myself so the second part of your write-up was especially interesting to me.
Jobs pays less and inflation is very high but there is always demand of talent ..Thanks for the useful information
Definitely Voted Up! Great information and well-researched subject that has obviously hit a hot button for many. We truly have become a global workplace with many able to utilize their skills to work internationally and see the world. At one time as a side business, I helped place foreign graduate students as interns in a variety of industries in the USA. It was a way for the student to combine theory with experience. Thanks again for sharing. You never disappoint. GClark
Digital Marketing is the future. What do you know about the growing field? http://digitalmarketingdegrees.wordpress.com/ They talk about Digital Marketing Degree's at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Stay in touch and check back frequently for news.
Very informative :)
That was an awesome article :)
Fantastic hub, I will pass this on to my high school seniors!
Your welcome, you earned it! Good research and well written. I have 3 adult kids, banking, aerospace and oil and they are doing well, waiting to see what direction my 2 high school-ers (10 years behind my adult kids) go. Hubby is in aerospace, but recently that particular sector of aerospace has been hard hit, glad to hear it will pick up soon.
Well-researched and well-done. Now...if only my brain were actually wired to do one of those occupations. Hehehehe. Voted up.
I am sad to hear about skilled trades declining, I am an out of work electrician in Tucson. I just signed my first writing contract but I am still broke, arg! Thanks for the hub, sounds like I need to learn something new.
Excellent information. You did a fantastic job of putting all of this data together in an easy to read format. I found it very useful! thanks Patty!
Thanks for this hub.
I was wondering if you have written any hubpages about points of consideration when relocating to another country for work (for example, when a Japanese doctor intends to work in the US, what are some of the important considerations?)
I'm interested to know about the differences or similarities of Educations of Doctors in the US and UK.
In Japan, a doctor's education takes 7 years to complete. The qualification is probably only recognizable in Japan. Unlike a medical qualification from the US or UK, it is widely accepted in many countries.
I'm interested to know why and whether there are differences and similarities to their Education.
Regards
This is great information. Especially for those going into or completing college!
I AM SPARTA AND THIS IS USEFULL!
It makes sense that jobs in the medical field have a high demand with our aging population. It's very expensive to get medical training but it appears to be worth the expense and effort.
Gotta love well researched hubs likek this :)Well done its a great analysis on remuneration trends
Nice hub!! I am worried about IT sector, it is declining.
Interesting information for the college bound, but also for mothers whose children are grown and looking to go into another career. Thanks for the tips!
Fascinating. I wish I had studied something more useful the first time I was in school, but I fell right into the "do what you like!" trap we present our children. It may be nice to enjoy our degree or related jobs, but it doesn't always get the bills paid. It's pretty cool to see what would have worked or what would work if I chose to do something different.
Writing jobs will be on hike also and Demand of good writers will increase..Wonderful hub ..Thanks
I wish that researching alternative fuels would rise in job demand
i think it's not on what kind of job you have but on how you give value to it. you can always have the highest paying job or even the highest position but if you don't love it and value it, you'll never be satisfied. Passion & dedication are really important.
