Free Coloring Pages for Thanksgiving

Here are several coloring pages that will pop up as you cursor over them.

In elementary at Thanksgiving time, we made turkeys in the first and second grades with a potato, toothpicks for legs, and for the tail, wings, and head - cutouts from colored papers.

It was n the first grade classroom, that I learned what a rotten potato smelled like! We had left the potato turkeys over the long Thanksgiving weekend and they did not smell pretty when we returned. Whew! They were fun to make, though. (Now I would worry about wasting a potato.)

The vegetables below make fun coloring objects and can help teach younger children about nutrition. All ages can enjoy the animated characters of onion, potato and carrot. They are all likely to appear on the dining room table for dinner on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Since potatoes and opinions come in so many colors, children can experiment with their own ideas as they color.

The Old Time Candy Company

Candy from the early 20th century is also still dsitributed in Ohio at the Old Time Candy Company.

This corporation puts together gift packs for gift giving as well as individual orders. It's fun just to look at their online catalogue. I've never seen some of these candies before, but my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents surely enjoyed some of them.

They even have FIZZIES!

Thanksgiving Decor of Natural Materials

During October in Canada and November in USA, we speak of Indian Corn, the number of different varieties of corn grown when the white settler met the Native North Americans for the first time. Ears with many colors on the same cob are often wired together and hung on the front door of the home as a welcome during the Thanksgiving Season.

Ha ha!

When kids ask me how old I am I say 200! When they look at me funny and say that I cannot be that old, I say, "Well, closer than YOU!" Try it with a child sometime!

I love coloring too.
