73Cab and Minnie
FAVORITES
My favorite song title and song containing a female character's name is
"Minnie The Moocher", performed by Cab Calloway.
Not all Minnie's need to be moochers, of course - take famous singer Minnie Riperton with the 6-octave range, for instance. She also recorded a song titled "Minnie's Lament."
I have a copy of the original black-and-white film of the same name and starring Cab Calloway. It is interesting to watch that film and compare it to today's movies. The Calloway orchestra and the zoot suited orchestra leader are fun to watch and hear. Mr. Calloway also performed the song "Minnie the Moocher" with his orchestra on TV variety shows and in the movie The Blues Brothers.
Others song titles I have found among my records and tapes and those of friends include the following list. Some of these titles are pretty old songs, dating back to 1948, and less well-known today. Others are traditional songs from the 19th century, even further back in time. The following list contains additional songs than those posted so far (I apologize for any duplicates I missed). Enjoy!

Wow, that is some list. Thank you. Did you make this list from memory?
im looking for the song sentimental ole you
My Maria, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Help me Rhonda, Barbara Ann, Proud Mary, Take a letter Maria, Sarah, Peggy Sue, Susie Q, Hang on Sloopy. Just a few more. Sorry I don't remember the artists.
Good songs, i know the majority of them!
Great Songs and Games
My personal favorite is "Aurora" by Foo Fighters. I plan on naming my future daughter that name.
I love this list! I've always dreamed of naming a daughter after a famous song, simply because I always wished to be named after a famous song. Something like "Julia" by the Beatles or "Amanda" by Boston.
I will say though that the Sarah McLachlan song is called "Adia," not "Aida." and her named is spelled as above. Great hub!
Patty, you forgot "Stormy"!!
Here are a few more
"Sister Sue" by Jobriath, "Jessica" by The Allman Brothers Band, "Romeo and Jane" by Tonio K., "Susan" by The Buckinghams, "Joanne" by Michael Nesmith, "For Diana" by Dirk Hamilton, "Just Like Marilyn" by Jimmy Webb, "Lee's Traveling Song" by Wendy Waldman, "Suzanne" by Leonard Cohen, "Martha" by Tom Waits
