Listening to Music on YouTube

YouTube was originally the creation of three employees of PayPal™, the online money vehicle for sending and receiving payments via the Internet.

They started in a garage, where many computer-based companies started as far back in the 1980s. An example of this type of startup is the computer consulting company NorthStar, whose CEO, Tae Yun Kim, came to the USA and worked as a cleaning person while she advanced her computer venture in the garage in the 1980s. Successful in the eastern US, she moved to California, expanded and began a second business as well within a decade of her start. Both are active and profitable in the 21st century, joined by two additional realted businesses as well. Even more successful and with quicker earnings in the computer-related field of online entertainment, YouTube founders Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who began in a garage, sold their 2005 creation to Google near the end of 2006 for an outstanding sum - in much less than 1/5 the time it took Tae Yun Kim to create such technological wealth in a time before the Internet became accessible to the public.

YouTube is the second most-visited website globally as of the beginning of March 2008. In the United States, YouTube is fourth in number of visitors for the same date.

The favorite videos of the majority Youtube viewer, which is largely in the teens while spilling into the young-adult category, seem to fall into the broad categories of what can be considered "Odd News" or "Gossip", Electronics, Humor, and Music Videos, including parodies.

The Number 3spot on the favorites list was from Alicia Keys and is unavailable in vid.

"Weird Al" Yankovic's offering from the album Straight Outta Lynwood is in the Number 15 spot on the All Time Favorites.

Another by Weird Al is hilarious as well as good music, but has not made the Top 50, except at science fiction conventions.

This one from Elvis is one of his lesser-heard numbers, but catchy and heard to stop listening to. He recorded it in 1960 with a special gathering of star performers, and again in 1966. The 1966 RCA recording sessions finally resulted in the version used for the YouTube video below.

This is an old British recording from the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band of The Monster Mash (1969) and The Sound of Music (1967).
