HubNugget Nation
69HubNuggets and Gunpowder
The week of October 31 through November 6, 2010 is most auspicious.
This week featured, just in its first three days: Halloween/Neewollah, All Souls Day, and the American Mid-Term Elections - the last being the potentially most frightening of all. If this brings not enough excitement, November 5 is time for the weekly HubNuggets Hub Day as well as Gunpowder Day.
Watching TV campaign ads recently, I noted that they were 99 and 99/100% Pure negativity. This made me long for the shadow government of the futurist film and book Harrison Bergeron (Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.), where thinking was outlawed and one average citizen or other received a phone call every 4 years in appointment to the figurehead US Presidency. (Why, no; that's not how we really do it . Why do you ask?)
However, I snapped back to the present day and dispatched my voting responsibilities. I had reams of information supplied by the League of Women Voters, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and other civic associations regarding the stances of the candidates on the issues at vote. Interestingly, some candidates' surveys that were compiled contained only name-calling. Others seemed to have no stance at all, since they completed no survey and made themselves unavailable for questioning. I made some write-in choices.
Where am Iiving , I thought, on the Animaniacs lot at Warner Brothers? Down the Rabbit Hole? -- Well! my muse Jack Benny intoned.
EXIT POLL
A quarter of my frontal lobe thinks moving to Canada would be a good idea, although Wonderland is the first best choice, winning over 51% of the cerebrum (but W-land's currently filled to capacity). Outer Space comes in as third choice (provisional gray cells still out for 10 days), but that route is still a few years away by privatization.
HubNugget Nation has a much simpler system of voting. I am unanimous in that.

More Pepper Please! - PSA
A little humor seasons the insanity of political races with grace and makes it pallatable.
In the blitz of personal assaults on the opposition that filled the airwaves to saturation so that mud fell from the skies, there was one small smiling light in Ohio. It was a dash of pepper.
A comic clip about one candidates' accomplishments - without a word about the opposition - was quite nice →→
Happy November from HubNugget Nation
Now that we've ALL won what we wanted in the 2010 election outcomes (LOL), we and our global neighbors can enjoy voting for our 3 favorite HubNuggets Wannabes of the week –- And it should be a lot more fun than standing in line at the polls all day, or going down to the Board of Elections for early voting and finding that our registration has vanished!

Ohio's Mass Transit Routes
Speaking of trains --
Ohio likely lost all hope for a 3C Rail line from Cinci to Cleveland in this election. We have Amtrak passenger service only on Lake Erie and one point on the Ohio River (with no connection), so transportation options are drying up, if an Ohioan has no automobile.
With Greyhound service cuts and their stations moved to obscure locations, I hope our airport is not converted to a city dump and the broken highways all rolled up for greenspace. City bus services? - sighhhhhh

Lovely hub, Mrs. Slocum, er, Patty - I loved The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, as well...and I am unanimous in that.
Congrats to all the nominees!
By the way, what are the citizenship requirements for HubNuggets Nation - I'm in!
Great Hub! I've voted and shared. Best of luck to all nominees. :)
Well that took longer than expected - I really got into some of those hubs. Looking forward to the results.
Yeah, vote for Zsuzsy Bee as Empress of North America...(does that mean I can make up my own rules and regulations?) Yeehaw, I just happen to have my short roll (a mere 71yards/63.9meters) of my speech/promises handy. #1 on my soap box -No war mongers allowed- #2 -3.5day work week- #3 -at least 1day/week obligatory writing of original non-copied hubs- ....#321 -No snow on the road ways (or my drive way)- .....
and last but not least #4172 -No butter nut squash 'ever'-
Yup I promise not to hike up taxes, (except for the once that make it into my coffers :):):))

Ahhhum ahhhum got-a-frog-in-my-throat, sorry Patty got carried away... Love the hub, especially the Empress bit, woops, did I say that aloud again? (You've created a monster you know... some people just can't handle power)
Now, how many votes can I count on from hubpages, did you say...?
Congrats to all you hubnuggeteers, those are a great bunch of hubs to choose from... don't forget to get your family and friends to drop by and vote for your hub (and for me...) They don't have to be members of Hubpages to vote for your hub (and for me...)
on a more serious note vote for Zsuzsy Bee... (hahaha)
Thankfully we Ohioans now have a governor who grasps fiscal concepts. The choo choo was a disaster waiting to happen. We can't afford another money pit. It was designed to travel at 79 mph from Cincinnati to Cleveland. Cars travel the same route at 70 mph to complete the 4.5 hour trip.
Ohio originally asked for almost 600 million dollars, the feds came back with 400 million. Who would make up the difference? Taxpayers in Ohio. The state budget is upside down already. Common sense tells us that we can't afford a choo choo.
Great hub Patty! Read and voted (for Zsuzsy Bee...oh, sorry, wrong category....) I MEAN I read and voted for the Nominees!! Congrats to everyone who was nominated...now get out there and promote your hubs :D
Patty,
So much lunacy, so little space.
I am, in fact, a king (OK, it's me dressed up as King George and he really was barking mad,) and wonder how all of you live in my little laptop computer.
I feel so at home here.
Love your hubs, but wonder if you are a sweatshop in China, I can't keep up with your 2,346 hubs a day! I'm worried that you will use up the internet, then what will we do?
Chris
Voted for Zsuzsy Bee too!!! ...and of course the hubs, which are fabulous this week! :D
Superb hub! Though I wanted the choo choo too =_=
Ah, politics. Voting. Le sigh,
Yes, it's true. I cannot hide anything from Patty's huge brain. I want Zsuzsy for empress. Anybody read "Aniaml ?Farm"" by the way?
Well done Patty :-)
I am dyslexic, so forgive the spelling :-)
Patty, love the hair - perfect shade for you, though the pink was very nice, as well :D:D:D - to match Puss, no doubt :D:D:D
Zsuzsy, you're doing well this last while. First Enelle "Queen-ed" you, then you became an angelic guardian, and now you're the Empress of the known world! Do remember, that you are now "Empress" and not "RedQueen" - no head-offing in the Nation :D:D:D
Congrats to all the nominees - vote for Empress Zsuzsy Bee!
I am sure she's no more equal than any other Empress, Dmitiris :D
I forgot about the "off with their heads" bit... if anyone doesn't vote for me can I...?? no that would not be nice... New proclamation #4273 I promise not to off with the heads... unless we need to go bowling that is.
I will be known as the angelic-ly winged red empress of North America... quite the title to live up to
Zsuzsy Bee, the Empress...has a wonderful ring to it! :) Hehehehe Great idea Patty...the Hubnugget Nation with not taxes but a lot of community. Off I go to hubhopping...be right back!
Great hub, Patty!
I did my civic duty and voted for my favourite candidate from each category. And just in case Zsuzsy forgets that she promised to not behead anyone if they don't vote, I'm safe.
By the way, sorry to hear that Ohio is now almost totally bereft of transportation, Patty. Loved the map. :-)
Thanks guys 4 nominating my hub "Feed your skin" good luck to all of us!!! Great hubs!!

Another well executed hub Patty Inglish, MS ...voted for my favorite Author..look forward to next weeks tale.
Not that I'm trying to make light of the prohibition of the chuck wagon... Patty, how about brooms? Are they still allowed? I just need to know so I'm able to still get around when I'm coming to visit...
It will get better Patty, if not, we will have to move to our island that much sooner... and we won't allow any politicians there I promise
Take care
Zsuzsy
Couldn´´t we get the troops nd the politicians to change places for month and see how they get on?
Loved the theme. Great job. Enjoyed. (yes, I voted)
Great Hub!Such talented writers here, I feel like a kid at Disneyland. Thank you for making us newbies feel so welcome!

With poor signals here at my niche, I was able to vote, rate and comment on the 'candidates' on Hub Nation this week. It's fulfilling, though. Thanks, Patty! :D

I am happy to have found hubpages, for many reasons. I also have introduced to a few others who I'm sure will reap the enjoyment hubpages provides for so many. Again thanks for the nomination!
