Economic Recovery and Growth in the 2010s
Despite the Recession of 2008 - 2010, the US experienced business and job growth in several metropolitan areas coast to coast.
In the 1st QTR of 2010, Bloomberg BusinessWeek found that each of the 50 States possessed a boomtown that was growing with new business and expansions, residents, and jobs faster than any other city in each state. In Midwest America, these economically healthier-than-average places are located in the following cities and towns, by Midwest sector:
NORTH:
Neenah, Wisconsin - A manufacturing center for man hole covers and paper, Neenah is a refreshing travel destination as well.
Maple Grove, Minnesota - Minnesota is beautiful and I've friends connected to publishing, film, and ministries that happily live in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Maple Grove is a suburb there that is the incredibly fastest growing city in the large state of Minnesota.
Plymouth Township, Michigan - While jobs were lost from the State of Michigan during the George W. Bush Administration and on into the Obama term into 2010, Plymouth Township defied circumstance and grew, becoming the fastest growing place in the Wolverine State. I love Michigan for its forests, lakes, and attractions and Plymouth Township is a good place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
CENTRAL SECTION
Northbrook, Illinois - Commuter rail systems are a key to establishing and maintaining growth in a community, In this suburb of Chicago, a commuter rail system and bus service transport passengers back and forth from Chicago 25 times every day. Sustainability related jobs, Healthcare and Finance are big in this fast growing suburb.
Avon, Indiana - The high school band in this town is a leader in regional contests, performing numbers and drills that one one else even attempts. The quickest growing place in Indiana, Avon is an Indianapolis suburb with an economy all its own. Finance, Healthcare, Technology, and Sustainability jobs are keys to success here. A tremendous job increase hit during 4th QTR 2009 and continues through 2010.
Dublin, Ohio - Hard to believe now, but when Dublin was first settled, it was the Wild West. The town had saloons, muddy streets, gunfights, a blacksmith and more turmoil than you'd every see on Gunsmoke. As the fastest growing place in the state today, even the landscaping at its highway interchanges takes your breath away. High-tech and tourism are leaders in the economy of a city with a superior K-12 school system. If you like golf, there's always the Memorial Tournament at Muirfeld. Check out the link for more.

MIDWEST OIL BOOM
Another Midwestern city that is growing quickly and will likely catch Fargo-Moorhead, North Dakota is New Town, North Dakota. In 2009, having added 29 additional oil wells to its original 10, New Town is in an Oil Boom in the 2010s and is expected to drill and process oil form underground reserves and the Alberta Pipeline to supply a population and land area equal to all of North America for long into the 21st Century and perhaps the 22nd, according to various science and engineering sources.

FARTHER WEST
Fargo, North Dakota - Do you like the film Fargo? The link will take you to some information made famous by the 1996 Coen Brothers film that stars William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi, Frances McDormand, and Peter Storemare.
Sioux Falls, South Dakota - This city has been named a "Best Place" for many reasons by numerous economic and financial magazines and their consultants. BusinessWeek found it to be the fastest growing city in SD as well.
Bellevue, Nebraska - "Beautiful View" as the French say, is appropriate ot its name. The scenery in and around this place is breathtaking. Medical centers, retail establishments, dining places, and manufacturing are all active and need workers.
Leawood, Kansas - This is an interesting place, besides the fact that it is growing faster than any other city or town in Kansas. With a motto of Growing Green Together,it is sure to continue toi grow economically as well. IBM is the largest employer, with universities and medical centers a close second. Tourism also does well, with many indoor attractions, outdoor recreation sites, and beautiful National Parks.
SOUTH
Urbandale, Iowa - Urbandale is an aggressively growing community that means to succeed and implements what it means by way of ongoing planning and follow-up. Jobs are increasing and available largely in research science and Healthcare, Management, Sales, and Engineering.
Lee's Summit, Missouri - Missouri is a wonderful state, full of parks, caverns, lakes, and tourist attractions, The Downtown Lee's Summit area is booming with places to go and jobs to do. A new mall is doing healthy business and is hiring in dozens of new shops throughout 2010 and the coming years. Healthcare, retail Sales/Management and Finance/Insurance are growing quickly.

Dublin, Ohio is the closet town to us of the ones on your list..I'll have to check it out
Thank you for an interesting and informative hub. Great pictures.
Patty Inglish, MS, I'm a Midwesterner, so I had to read this Hub. I worked in Leawood, one of the towns mentioned. It's part of Johnson County (richest county in Kansas) that is part of the Kansas City metro area. I personally love Kansas City because it's so beautiful and there's plenty to do. Most folks probably don't know it's two cities (KCK and KCMO, as they're called) and several suburbs built on hills. Nicely sized hills too. Very pretty. Kind Regards
