HubNuggets, the final frontier...

These are the voyages of the USS Hubbertise; its continuing mission, to seek out new writers and new worlds, to avoid SPAM, and to boldly go where successful writers choose to lead!

.

.

Ship's Log, Supplemental;

Commander Sci-Pi, recording.

Weekly HubNuggets Missions have taken the HN Team to many corners of the Universe; yet, there are still writing depths to explore. New HP writers strive to illuminate these realms and we present a selection of HubNuggets Wannabe Hubs to you again this week as two team members retire. Here's the story -

Good Night Sweet Princ(ess), Good Night Moon

September is the month of the Harvest Moon and we offer you a solid harvest of tasty HubNuggets this week. Since North American First Nations and farmers everywhere enjoy a feast of celebration at the harvest, we're having a party! --

It's a Farewell Fete for Captain (retired) Shirley Anderson and Commander (retired) B.T. Evilpants, as they pilot escape pods and a burro into the far realms of full-time writing - er – marriage to Beatle John Lennon - er - both.

We have plenty of food and some of the crew have provided vintage Canadian whiskey brought back from our journey to the Great Lakes in the early 1700s; and, B.T. left a storeroom of fine ales for HubNugget Hank to use in the continued scientific quest for the ultimate ale. Hank is lead researcher now, but since he’s still back in the 1700s, we will commandeer the goods for the sake of the party.

Commander Zsuzsy Bee has baked a bonus batch of butter tarts for the celebration, so be sure to try one, and take home the recipe.

Admiral Jason Menayan has graciously consented to perform his wild west magic act as The Great Presto! We are in luck too, because Admiral Maddie Ruud - just back from her International Rodeo Grand Champion win - has agreed to be his clever and beautiful Cowgirl assistant, Buckaroo Maddie. Her sophisticated leather boots are a model of style and spoken of across the galaxies. At the conclusion of the act, our Admirals and Swashbluckling Simone will enact selected scenes from Two Gentleman From Verona and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl.

Mirror Crack’d: What shall I be doing?

Sci-Pi: Attempt to trace Shirley and B.T. and connect us in a conference call on the forward screen. See if we can get a few words from them during the party.

Mirror Crack’d: Aye Aye, Commodore!

Sci-Pi: I’m not a commodore. What IS a commodore? It is one of those birds? No, no, that’s a cormorant… We have a Beatles Tribute Group performing for the party and a few guest musicians may sit in. They’re warming up now -- Wait a minute!

[Honk! Honk! Hummmmmmmmmm!]

Sci-Pi: P8 Blue! Stop playing Amazing Grace on bagpipes, Shirley and B.T. are not dead!

P8Blue: Hoot mon! Pictures, then!--

[Flash, flash, flash, flash, flash, shoooooooom!]

Sci-Pi: A camera bug with a nuclear camera…I wonder how THOSE shots are going to turn out? Any road, 6 HubNugget Wannabes have shown up at the door with their grand Hubs as offerings to the Farewell Fete. Let’s see what they’ve brought….Ahh, delicious! Help yourself to some food and drink as the band plays during your visit to the first Wannabes.(Don't miss any of them, because some include daft funny commercials.)

Ladies and Gentlemen!

This is Special Correspondent ripplemaker, broadcasting the Hubnugget Team Farewell Fete on W-HUBN TV, live from Mann’s Chinese Theater. Rumor has it that Shirley Anderson and B.T. Evilpants may have their handprints, antlerprints, and autographs placed in the cement in front of the theater here in Hollywood. They have been dedicated members of the HubNuggets Team and their writing on HubPages is duly appreciated as well. If we can contact them during this party, we may see them imprint the sidewalk in front of Mann’s. Stay tuned!

Sci-Pi: Mirror, Mirror dressed in plaid, where are our friends? – Why are you dressed that way, might I add?

Mirror Crack’d: Capt. Anderson is on an around-the-world tour in a submarine with John Lennon. There is no trace of Evilpantaloons yet. And if that buggy P8Blue can wear a kilt to the party, why not me?

Commander RedElf: Sci-Pi, I’m picking up something on the subspace frequencies. The video appears snowy and the audio static-ky. I shall refine the tuning with my dainty yet powerful paws...

Slightly Used Mirror

For sale - 2 Cents.

Commander RedElf: Evilpants has passed through the Americas and has entered the Antarctic region, which is in the phase of 6 months' continual daylight.

Commander Zsuzsy Bee: Shouldn’t it be 6 months’ night this time of year?

Commander RedElf: Blame the time-skewing Mirror for that one. That poor bunny will never find the sunset he’s trying to ride off into. Wrong-way Jackalope, that'll be his epitaph.

Mirror Crack’d: April Fool!

Commander Zsuzsy Bee: To quote Ralph Kramden, “Droll Alice, verrrrrry droll.”

Mirror Crack’d: No no, That’s another story. Alice Through the Looking Glass features my cousin Glassina.

Special Correspondent ripplemaker: While we’re looking for our friends, another 6 HubNugget Wannabe guests have arrived with their great Hubs. Let’s listen to the band play as we look them over.

Special Correspondent ripplemaker: That was great music. Thanks, Band! Let’s take a look inside Mann’s and see what’s playing. Ah, The Return of Nanny McPhee. I’m going in…

The person you need is Nanny B.T. The person you want is Nanny B.T.

…When you want me but don’t need me, I have to go….

Special Correspondent ripplemaker Hmm, that does not sound right.-- Mirror!?

Mirror Crack’d: It wasn’t me!

P8Blue: I don’t ken it.

Special Correspondent ripplemaker: I’m going back in...

Hello! I’m Denny Crane! Coocoo for Coca Puffs.

A three-hour tour, A three-hour tour

Ride ‘em, ride ‘em, ride ‘em, rawhide!

Man, woman, birth, death, infinity. Dr. Ben Casey.

I got this idea for a show about nothing.

Commander Zsuzsy Bee: I think Mirror Crack’d is malfunctioning. He misses our friends.

Commander RedElf: Yes, I concur. If we had a Ship’s Surgeon, he could pronounce Mirror unfit for duty and we could force him to rest.

Ship’s Surgeon Ringo Starr: Aye, that’s me, friends, Ringo Starr! And during his long rest, Mirror Crack’d can enjoy the full collection of rock and roll classics from the 1960s, and 70s, available only from PBS stations nationwide – and on the eBay aftermarket. There’s really nothing’ else like it. All your favorites from The Midnight Special, all in one collection – and it’s fun as well.

P8Blue: Shall I be getting’ out the pipes, then?

Ship’s Surgeon Ringo Starr: No need! Mirror will be fine in a week or two. Give the recordings to the disk jockey and we’ll have a party! Meanwhile, let’s take a look at what your last 6 HubNugget Wannabe guests have brought! Do you concur, Doctors?

Dr. Moe: I concur, Doctor, do you concur, Doctor?

Dr. Larry: I concur, Doctor, do you concur, Doctor?

Dr. Curly: Ditto!

Dr. Phil: What’s concur? Is that like a cormorant?

Dr. Quackenbush: That’s the magic woid!

Fab Party, Commander Cormerant - er - Sci-PI! Hang on while I wrap my dainty yet powerful paws around another flagon of Canada's finest...Ahhh, that's better! I was thirsty! Great eats - love the butter tarts, Zsuzs!

Commander Commodore, we're already getting responses to your ads, but most of them want US to pay THEM to take the items.

LOVE the HubNuggets, too - read and voted - congratulations to a great bunch!

PARTY Onnnnnnn! XXXXX Shirley and B.T.

We could always post them on HanksList.com, but that might be worse...

Ringo hasn't asked about wages yet, so we're still ahead, depending on how many DVD coillections he sells - and here I forgot to list the aftermarket CDs. What's a cormorant to do?
