Sustainability
The City of Charlottesville is a Green City that has planned for sustainability throughout the 21st century. The City Council has adopted the philospohy of the Native Americans of the regions in such planning, specifically:
'We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.
The city is dedicated to climate protection and water conservation, recycling, composting, and Natural Gardening with native plants and organic methods where possible. The city also encourages citizens to think about the FOOD MILE - in other words, the social, economical, and environmental costs of importing food from abroad or long distances within America. Emphasis is placed on locally grown products.
An interesting green concept use din Charlottesville is the building of urban forests in order to cool down the inner-city heat that is caused by vehicle traffic and energy generation in urban areas with tall buiildings and extensive pavement.

Thanks Patty, yes it is beautiful. The wonderful thing about Charlottesville, for anyone who may want a job there, are the mountains. The Blue Ridge mountains are incredible. The parkway is breathtaking.
Staunton is on the other side of the mountain, and is equally beautiful. This is where MBC is, and the town is sandwiched between the Appalachians and the Blue Ridge mountains. Many people who live in Staunton commute to jobs in Charlottesville. It's about a 30 minute drive over the mountain.
Sorry, I can't resist talking about that entire area because the people are wonderful and it's truly a wonderful place to live.
Another great hub Patty. Thank you.
My husband and I are considering a move to Charlottesville. We spent our honeymoon at the Barboursville winery and throughout the Valley. We love it there. We are 50 years old and would need to seek employment. I am a sales and marketing professional in the technology industry but have transitional skills for non-profit and other industries, besides healthcare. Any tips?
I'm going..thanks
Hi Pattie,
My name my fiance and I are moving to C-Ville in a week. She has found a job nursing I have a part time job for the weekends as of now. I was hoping that you may have some insight on where I could search for a m-f job. Anything would help. Thanks
I am a 30 year old mom with a fiance. I have retrieved a BS/BM this past may. There are no jobs where I am from and I am currently working for minimum wage. My lenders are now asking for there money and I am thinking of relocating and going south. Is there a chance that a sister can make it.

Good job Patty. I'm about 2 hours south of Charlottesville, and it's a beautiful place. It's particularly good to know that the hospital, UVA, is in the top 100. I had no idea. That's were we normally go for medical tests that can't be done in a private practice.
I graduated from Mary Baldwin College, and I highly recommend it to young people as well as adults who want to continue their education. :)
