Top 10 Hot Jobs for the Arlington, Irving and Plano Corridor

From west to east, Arlington, Irving, and Plano, Texas are smaller cities within the Dallas-Fort Worth market area. All three of these cities offer substantial numbers of job openings - several 1000s - in a range of career fields. Successful before the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provided Stimulus funds, this trio has begun developing additional new jobs as well.

These three suburbs of Dallas are connected along a distance of just about 38 miles, shown on the map below.

The Unemployment Rate around Texas was lower in the state than found in the nationwide US average before the Recession of 2008 - 2009 and before and during the distribution of ARRA Stimulus Funds. While an alarm went up in the media that national unemployment was 9.5% in June '09, Texas created an overall average of 7.5% for the same month, 2% lower; but it might creep higher and that was troublesome to state officials and horrific for Texas workers and job seekers and their families.

Still, it was time for Texas Workforce to step in and prevent further job loss and the premature ending of UI Benefits before enough new jobs were available for most unemployed persons in the state. With only 10% of the ARRA Stimulus Program funds of February 2009 distributed nationally nearly 6 months later, it became important to take quicker action.

At the same time, Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) decided to insitute an extension of 13 additional weeks of Unemployment Benefits to the state's eligible unemployed workers by the end of July. This was done to help unemployed workers weather the wait for Simulus Package-created jobs to become available and the natural trend of new jobs creation in Texas to expand.

The corridor created by the Dallas western suburbs, Arlington, Irving and Plano, is interesting in that these three cities

While the overall Unemployment rate for the huge Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex reached 8.1% for June (higher by some media sources), Arlington-Irving-Plano seemed in better shape than the larger area. Additional UI benefits to this corridor's unemployed could only help further from August - November '09.
